our garden
Our organic gardens feature resident chickens, which provide fresh eggs for the kitchen, and beehives that supplies honey, aids in crop pollination, and help protect our vineyards from pests. Together, these sustainable practices contribute to an eco-friendly approach to winemaking and cuisine at Cable Bay Vineyards.
sustainability
At Cable Bay Vineyards, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. As an accredited member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, we use natural practices like composting and grazing sheep to nurture our vineyards. Our hand-harvested wines reflect our dedication to premium, sustainable winemaking, ensuring quality and care in every bottle.
To reduce food waste in our kitchens , we ensure every part of an ingredient is utilized, whether in seasonings, dressings, preserves, or staff meals. Our organic produce is grown using nutrient-rich compost made from food scraps, green waste, and recycled paper, processed through worm farms, bokashi, and composting systems. This closed-loop cycle at our Waiheke Island site helps divert waste from landfills and enriches our gardens and vineyards, supporting the growth of premium produce and grapes.
